From the moment we drove through the gates we fell in love with Ashley Gorge. Just prior to this we had just returned from a Months road trip in our campervan around the North Island.

As we stayed at different motor camps we met & talked to the owners and managers and began to see a new way of life. On our return to Diamond Harbour, we decided we didn't want to go back to work. I worked for an ITO in Christchurch and Wayne was in Real Estate. Although we loved our home in the harbour, we also had a yearning for something different. We began to look for motor camp management opportunities first but when the Ashley Gorge Holiday Park came up for sale we couldn't wait to take a look. Needless to say we immediately fell in love with the place. Once inside the gates you could be anywhere and its sometimes hard to believe we are less than an hour from Christchurch.

Its certainly a different way of life and the busy periods are crazy but we have met some amazing people. We have been given fresh trout caught from the river, homekill meat & even whitebait from campers. How long will we be here? Who knows, but we are aiming for the long term. In the meantime we get to enjoy Paradise on our doorstep, the Moreporks calling at night, the sound of the river & when its just too hot the ability to pop the sign on the door, grab a couple of tubes and disappear up river for an hour..... Paradise Found

Kind Regards

Testimonials

  • Sue - Christchurch +

I just wanted to write and say thank you. We had a wonderful time camping at the Ashley gorge holiday park, we found the park beautifully groomed and the facilities spotless. The setting is very picturesque, and our children played in the river for hour upon hour - what a wonderful place for the whole family to relax during the hot summers days. I strongly recommend this camp and location for anyone wanting to stay in the Canterbury area - it's only an hour from Christchurch city, and I even managed to explore the numerous shops in nearby Oxford only 10 minutes away. "We recently held our national retreat at Ashley Gorge Holiday Park. The location was great, allowing our members from around the country and overseas to fly in to Christchurch and get there within 50 minutes. The place felt really secluded and was a great chance to give our team a taste of the South Island without having to drive for hours and hours. The facilities were tidy, well priced and being able to self cater meant we were able to keep costs down. All in all a great experience. Thanks guys!" Sam Davies Executive Director

Wayne and Sally  Thank you for having us over the holiday period.  We love coming to Ashley Gorge!  You do a fantastic job of keeping the holiday park in such great condition, and the amenities clean and fresh.  It is the perfect spot for family camping, safe and friendly.  The family travelling with us on our recent visit were impressed with the location and Holiday Park, it has even been suggested they travel back to Christchurch at the end of 2016 so another holiday at Ashley Gorge can be enjoyed.  Again, thank you                           Amy
